Clever Clogs is currently in public beta testing. The core CV-checking and refining tools are live and free to use, but you may run into rough edges, bugs, unexpected results, or features that are still being tweaked.

Match reports and suggested tweaks are generated automatically and are a starting point, not a guarantee — always give your CV a final read-through yourself before sending it anywhere.

What Clever Clogs does

Clever Clogs compares a CV you provide against a job description you provide, and returns an automated match report and suggested edits. It's a personal project built and run by David Paul (dPaul.studio), offered as-is during this beta period.

Your content

You keep ownership of any CV, job description, or other text you submit.
Submitted text is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate your report, and may be temporarily stored so you can save and reload your own CVs within the tool.
Don't submit anyone else's personal data without their permission, and avoid including sensitive information (e.g. national insurance numbers, bank details) in your CV text.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is," especially during this beta period. There's no guarantee of accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Clever Clogs is a decision-support tool, not career or legal advice.

Fair use

Usage may be rate-limited or capped per account to keep the service running for everyone. Please don't attempt to abuse, scrape, or overload the service.

Changes

Because this is a beta product, features, limits, and these terms may change without much notice. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

2 Your account & CV security

No passwords, ever

Clever Clogs doesn't use passwords. There's nothing to set, remember, forget, or have leaked in a breach — because there's simply nothing stored to breach.

How signing in works

Enter your email address and click "Sign in."
We send a one-time 6-digit code to that email address — nothing else is needed.
Enter the code on the site to confirm you own that inbox, and you're signed in.
Each code is single-use and expires shortly after it's sent, so an old code sitting in your inbox can't be reused later.

Because sign-in depends on access to your email, only you can complete it. There's no separate secret to guess, phish, or reuse across other sites.

Where your CV actually lives

Your saved CVs (up to three at a time) are stored locally in your own browser, on your own device — not in a central database Clever Clogs keeps long-term.
When you run a check or refine, that CV text is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to generate your report, and isn't retained afterward.
Clearing your browser's site data, or using a different browser or device, will clear your saved CV slots — so keep your own copy of anything important.

Keeping things secure on your end

Make sure you have access to the email account you sign in with, and don't share sign-in codes with anyone — Clever Clogs will never ask you for one over email, chat, or phone.
