What Clever Clog does

Clever Clog compares a CV you provide against a job description you provide, and returns an automated match report and suggested edits. It's built by David Paul (dPaul.studio) and offered as-is during this beta period.

Who you're dealing with

Your content

• You keep ownership of any CV, job description, or other text you submit.
• Submitted text is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate your report. If you're signed in, CVs you save are stored in our database until you delete them or close your account.
• Don't submit anyone else's personal data without their permission, and avoid including sensitive information (e.g. national insurance numbers, bank details) in your CV text.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is," especially during this beta period. There's no guarantee of accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Clever Clog is a decision-support tool, not career or legal advice.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Fair use

Usage may be rate-limited or capped per account to keep the service running for everyone. Please don't attempt to abuse, scrape, or overload the service.

Changes

Because this is a beta product, features, limits, and these terms may change without much notice. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

No passwords, ever

Clever clog doesn't use passwords. There's nothing to set, remember, forget, or have leaked in a breach — because there's no password stored to breach.

How signing in works

• Enter your email address and click "Sign in."
• We send a one-time 6-digit code to that email address — nothing else is needed.
• Enter the code on the site to confirm you own that inbox, and you're signed in.
• Each code is single-use and expires shortly after it's sent, so an old code sitting in your inbox can't be reused later.

Because sign-in depends on access to your email, only you can complete it. There's no separate secret to guess, phish, or reuse across other sites.

Where your CV actually lives

• If you're signed in, your saved CVs are stored in our database so they're still there when you switch device or browser. Rows are protected so that only your account can read them.
• If you're using Clever Clog without signing in, your CV stays in your own browser's storage. Clear your site data and it's gone, and there's no way for us to recover it.
• When you run a check, refine, cover note or company research, the relevant text is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our AI provider to generate the result. It isn't used to train their models.
• Delete a saved CV in the tool and it's removed from the database. Ask us to close your account and we'll delete the lot.

Keeping things secure on your end

Make sure you have access to the email account you sign in with, and don't share sign-in codes with anyone — Clever clog will never ask you for one over email, chat, or phone.

How credits work

• You get a free check before signing up, and a few more once you have an account.
• After that, checks run on credits. Credits are bought in packs and are spent as you use the tool.
• Credits are tied to your account, have no cash value, and can't be transferred or exchanged for money.
• Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT.

Payment

Payments are taken by CitiIT Limited through Stripe, so the charge appears on your statement as CITIIT.UK. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by Clever Clog — we only see that a payment succeeded and which pack it was for.

Refunds

Changed your mind? If you haven't used any credits from a pack, email us within 14 days of buying it and we'll refund it in full.

When you use a credit, you're asking us to run that check straight away, so credits you've already spent can't be refunded.

That said: this is a beta, and if something goes wrong the credit shouldn't be yours to lose. If a check fails, returns nothing usable, or a credit is deducted for something you didn't get, email david@dpaul.studio and it'll be put right — usually by returning the credit, or refunding an unused pack.

Changes to pricing

Pack prices may change during beta. Credits already in your account aren't affected by a later price change.
